Melissa B. Wheeler
Class of 2024
Melissa B. Wheeler (b. 1983) is a multi-disciplinary artist, educator, musician, and curator currently living in Buena Vista, Virginia. Her works include ceramic sculpture, functional pottery, artist books, cyanotype prints, and murals. In her practice, Wheeler is interested in exploring the complexity of attachment–to place, time, nature and people, through activation of nostalgia, memory, and ephemera. Melissa’s curatorial work focuses on elevating young and up-and-coming artists. She holds a BA in Liberal Arts from Southern Virginia University where she is currently a professor of ceramics, book arts, and guitar, and lead gallery curator. She is currently pursuing an MFA at the School Of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York.
