Maya Resheff
Class of 2019
Maya is based in Jerusalem, her work integrates and reflects upon interdisciplinary projects with a special interest in the body as a meeting place. Body as site might be a good way to express her thoughts about the research she is interested in. The body is the central site where we experience the world around us. It is how we interact with cultural, political, and social constructs. It is how we move through our experiences. In her artistic and personal work, she believes that everything is both an experiment and an experience. Body as performer
Body as perceiver
Body as material
Body as a sensorial form
Coming from a background of dance, her work integrates movement as well as aspects of space, time and material. Installation and performance are mediums she uses to explore and experiment with the perception, designing our experience. The bulk of her research is based on the connection between body, material and space. She treats the body as raw material, investigating its borders and qualities in relation to its environment. She approaches the use of movement as one of the basic components of her resources. The actual live, breathing bodies of the present people in space, are an integral part of the research and become part of her pallet.
