Maya BallÉn

Class of 2023

Maya Ballén is a Peruvian artist, architect, and educator. Her practice combines drawing, installation, video performance, and walking habits to create poetic and often playful works using collective mythologies that illuminate and comment on geopolitical issues. She is interested in systems such as maps, knitting patterns, and instructions as meditative tools to engage in cognitive disruption and incarnated processes that address the nature of error and power.

Her work has been featured in exhibitions in Lima, New York, and Madrid.
