Jamieson Thomas
Class of 2018
Jamieson Thomas (b.1958, Boston) lives and works in Orlando, Florida. Most of her life has been spent in or around water environments where she has seen the pollution, commodification of water and the destruction of natural habitats. With a series of photographs, sculptures, and an interdisciplinary conceptual installation, Thomas provocatively conveys the damage caused by our feckless despoiling of the air, soil, and water that is our lifeblood. Her recent work is an extended meditation that has deepened her personal commitment to environmental stewardship —work that compels each of us to reassess our own.
Thomas received her B.S. from Skidmore College in NY. She began her career primarily as a painter but has since expanded her practice to include sculpture, photography and video. In 2016, Thomas presented her first solo exhibit at Arts on Douglas Gallery/Atlantic Center for the Arts in New Smyrna Beach, FL.
