Heather Ariyeh

Class of 2021

Heather Ariyeh lives and works in Oklahoma City. She engages in materials-based investigations of social problems and the social constructions of lived realities. Her background in sociology, gender-based violence/sexual assault advocacy, as well as public health inform her interest in systems - be it the state, the organization, or the family - and how individuals navigate these systems with a sense of agency. She is also interested in how media and culture affect the experience of living within one’s body. One of the primary goals of her art and social practice is to improve social realities and opportunities, work which is informed through the lens of critical theory.
