Elissa Ecker
Class of 2016
Elissa Ecker, who hails from rural Minnesota, currently resides in Bangkok. She has been living in Asia for 7 years, arriving in Thailand by way of Korea and China. Her practice has evolved with each country traversed, by way of painting she has arrived at a more interdisciplinary practice, including video, writing, net-art and object making. Ecker’s work, often wry in execution, criticizes the construction of the feminine persona: wondering what a world would be like if every woman was seen as more than a fancy layer cake to be devoured.
