Dee Solin

Class of 2017

I am a multimedia artist with roots in painting and color theory, holding an MFA from the School of Visual Arts and a BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute.

My aim is to create powerful art experiences that engage visitors in richly layered contexts and sensory relationships to visual elements. My recent work explores the architecture of liminal spaces, where altered states of perception open portals to the realization of liminal space. Those who need solace or desire escape might find it here, in the art.

For The Sound of Falling Snow, a recent installation, I created a labyrinth consisting of translucent veiled walls. Visitors enter the maze-like space to listen to the sound of falling snow and they discover magic, illusion and absurdity, three core values of my art practice.

Now living in Manhattan and Rhinebeck NY. I am building an experimental live-work structure and home for my art practice, where I will continue to paint and create powerful art experiences for solace and escape.
