Benjamin Quesnel
Class of 2017
Students and alumni featured in Miami’s art week: Antonia Wright (AP’24), Quinn Dukes (AP ‘15), Ben Quesnel (AP ‘17), Kiya Kim (AP ‘19), Theodora Eliezer (AP ‘22).
MFA AP alum Ben Quesnel distorts familiar objects often gathered from tag sales, neighborhood auctions, and community recycling centers. His decontextualized forms challenge viewers to comprehend the meanings that have been attached to these objects and to evaluate them with a new understanding. November 14 - January 28.
AP alumni Ben Quesnel and Christine Stiver (‘17) have created the first annual SOUR MILK Art Exhibition, staged for one day only in an unoccupied house in Greenwich, Connecticut. Among the artists in the show are fellow alumni Alexandra Hammond (‘15), Huiqi He (‘18), Tzirel Kaminetzky (‘17), JD Raenbeau (‘15) and faculty/staff member Jacquelyn Strycker.
Ben Quesnel is a multimedia artist and art educator working in southern Connecticut. His current work focuses on the accumulations of data present within different objects and the contingent narrative that is attached to the things that we are surrounded by. He has shown in Fernando Luis Alvarez Gallery, BWAC, Danger Gallery, Newark Museum and Present Company. Working in the public school system since 2011, Ben Quesnel continues to encourage and inspire students to explore and develop their own unique artistic practice while engaging in conversations about historical and contemporary concerns.
